Web Development

During my most recent employment with Internet Broadcasting, I had done routine XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and XSL development for many of IB's 60+ websites. The development environment at IB is very much a team effort, so it is difficult to show any one example of my work there.

Buick

From 1999-2005 I was one of the primary programmers for Buick.com. During that time, I helped take the site from a static HTML website to a more dynamic site. Over the years, we implemented more and more variable-driven Flash content as well as incorporate Server-Side-Includes that operated on user-defined variables. It was a fantastic experience for me to be able to work with a diverse group of designers and project managers on a website devoted to one of America's classic car brands.

Rapid Drug Detox

In April of 2007, I programmed a basic website for Rapid Drug Detox Services. The site relies on simple HTML and CSS to achieve a clean and fast-loading website.

BedRug

In late 2006, I developed a new website for BedRug — manufacturers of a truck bed liner. I built the site in PHP to take advantage of server-side variables and to accomodate a MySQL database of dealers for a ZIP code dealer locator. While I can't take credit for coding the actual ZIP code locator, I found that I did have to modify the source code condsiderably to get the functionality desired by the client.

Detroit Tuned

In 2005, I programmed a new website for Detroit Tuned, a supply company that caters to Mini Cooper customization. The site included a complete product catalog with listing prices, photos and descriptions. The client already had a hosting environment set up, but it lacked support for databases. So, I created a text-based Content Management System that made use of secure folders and unique text-files.

Web Design

These are but two design comps that have survived a number of cross-country moves and computer meltdowns. While working on Buick.com, I had designed a number of promotional pages and emails... as well as prepared comps for the yearly redesign of the site. Though my core designs where never adopted, some elements were adapted into the winning design.

BedRug

BedRug manufactures durable truck bed-liners. In approaching this design, I wanted to create something that reflected that durablity as well as add some dirt to represent the outdoorsman attitude. I created some blobs of mud (using Photoshop vectors and shading) to contain various calls-to-action that the client requested.

In the end, the client went for a design that had more photos and utilized a brown background as opposed to the grey I selected.

DEMF

The Detroit Electronic Music Festival is an annual event held in Detroit that celebrates electronic music. While I worked for i33, we produced the website for the festival. It was the second year the event had taken place and my design was chosen.

With this design, I wanted to incorporate the mood and setting that is often associated with electronic music as well as the historic grittiness of the Motor City.

Graphics

These are a few of the large graphics I designed to accompany on-going newspaper stories for the Helena Independent Record. Some of these required research and continued communication with reporter and sources to make sure the content of the graphic is accurate.

The radio, television and Classified graphic would accompany regular sections of the newspaper.

Covers

While working for the Helena Independent Record, I contributed regularly to the look and feel of the paper's weekly entertainment section. Here is a selection of some of the covers I produced for this section.
