  Easily my second favorite season of the year, Autumn is upon us. The temperature dropped 20 degrees in the last 2 days and the leaves are turning and falling. All we need now are some carved pumpkins and snowy trick-or-treaters.

• 09.16.06 Like… ewwwwww. posted in the cats, weather

  So, like the ‘rents had Gordon and I all locked up for the past few days. We were totally going crazy. I mean, there are birds and bugs and shade trees outside. We can’t be expected to just sleep on the bed all day. Can we? I mean, that’s like sooo cruel and unusual punishment. We deserve to go outside. And go outside we did. Mrs. Wolfe finally broke down to our whining and opened the front door for us.

  Like, did I miss a memo or something? It’s totally crummy outside. It’s raining, it’s wet, and there are like totally no birds around. Did they all fly south for the Winter? It’s not even Winter yet! Gosh! All I want to do is kill a grasshopper. And maybe lay in the sun. Or go visit my lady friends down the block. What’s a girl to do? I can’t be stuck inside for another day! I’ll go crazy!

  I’m going to hike to the peak of Mt. Pike Helena today with our friends Anne and Aaron. Let’s hope it doesn’t hit 90+ degrees while we’re up there. As with the rest of the nation, it’s been god-awful hot lately. Friend-Aaron is a weatherman, so maybe he can conjur up some cool weather from the top of the mountain. There must be at least a few sacred stones up there that he can use to cast a spell or something.

  At any rate, this will be just my third time to the top of the mountain. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to hike it at least twice a month. I’m a little behind that count, eh. Oh well. The ultimate goal is to get from the bottom to the top without stopping for a breather. That’ll be nice.

  Like, it was soooo hot out today. I heard the ‘rents saying it was up to like 95 or something. I guess that’s hot, but like I don’t even know because I can’t read the termo-thing. What’s that called? With the numbers and that line? Whatever.

  I spent much of the day under the bird feeder in the shade. But even there I was as hot as a piece of corn in a frying pan. Is that even an expression? God! The heat is getting to me. I just want it over!
