It was time for the now annual trip to Elkhart Lake, WI for the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association’s Vintage Festival. Besides the unexplainable number of dying flies in our room, it was a grand ol’ time. On the way there, I dropped Nora off at my mother’s. From what I heard, she had a pretty good time, too.

We dropped Nora off with grandma Cooke and drove 10 hours to Detroit for to watch our friends Jason Wulff and Roselle Baggayan tie the knot. It was a beautiful wedding, and we got to see a lot of our friends. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to Lafayette Coney Island. I only hope it won’t be another 5 years before I have the best coney dogs in the world.
We got together with some friends tonite to have some jerked chicken and mojitos. Man… I drank too much.
Nora turned 2 today. Things went a little better this time around than they did a year ago. For starters, we actually had a few other kids in the house. Two more 2-year-olds, a 4-year-old, a 5-year-old and a 10-month-old. Needless to say, the party got pretty loud at times. There were many a frenzied shriek of joy as gifts were unwrapped and games were played.
We served up an ice cream cake from the DQ down the street. If we ever do that again, we will have to let it sit out for 10 minutes or more. The thing was frozen solid! It took a heck of a lot of elbow grease to push the knife down into it. And even after slices were cut, the children had a hard time eating it. Thankfully, someone had the brilliant idea of nuking the slices for a few seconds. The day was saved.
Nora made out like a bandit, wethinks. She nabbed herself a new Little People school bus set with 3 new “peoples,” some new coloring books, a furry purse, more bubbles, a shopping basket with scanner gun and a few more little things.
We spent a night in Madison visiting our friend Brian and meeting up with our friend Monty. The usual stuff occurred… nice dinner, good drinks, and great conversation.
We dropped the burden Nora off at her grandparents’ house in Eau Claire and went up north to Houghton for a wedding. There was lots of beer drinking, card playing, and Wii before and after the wedding. It was good to see all the MTUppers again.
Nora and I drove down to the Boos abode in Fall Creek today and dropped off some gifts for Baby Cramer! Doesn’t Billie look great??
