Tee-hee! POOL!

We took Nora to the park today. She loved it, of course. We spent most of our time sitting in the grass while Nora watched two girls play catch.

As previously mentioned, I recieved Wilco’s latest album “Sky Blue Sky” as a Father’s Day gift. If you haven’t heard it yet, you must. It’s an excellent listen. It’s the kind of album that makes me want to get in the car and drive to nowhere in particular.
At any rate… we got our new Nat Geo yesterday and to my surprise, the cover art from “Sky Blue Sky” turns out to be a Nat Geo photo. NG has an article on page 126 called ‘Swarm Theory’ that discusses how ants, bees and birds live in complex numbers with simple organization. The second photo in the spread is a 2-pager illustrating a flock of starlings avoiding a peregrine falcon. I thought it was a pretty good album cover, but it turns out to be a fantastic photograph.
I wonder who sold it to whom? Did the photograph retain the rights to sell it to both Nat Geo and Wilco? It doesn’t really matter I suppose. It’s just a really neat image.

Sarah managed to do something with Nora’s ever-growing bangs today. A top-knot!
Amazingly, Nora doesn’t seem to mind it. In fact, she prolly likes not having strands of hair in her eyes. I don’t think I’m lying when I say she is comically cute. Am I?
Well, today is my Father’s Day. I shall spend it playing video games and ignoring chores around the house. In addition, I shall thoroughly enjoy my gifts: $50 gift card to the Apple Store and Wilco’s latest album, “Sky Blue Sky.” Not sure yet what to do with the gift card. I am thinking that I might try to hold out until the next release of OSX is ready for sale. Yeah, that’ll be a good idea.

We took the cats in for their annual check-up today. Turns out Gordon needs some heavy-duty teeth cleaning. Ugh.

As some of you know, we are in the early stages of planning a move back to the Midwest sometime in the next few months. We’re not 100% sure on where we’ll end up, but things are leaning towards the Twin Cities area. At any rate, we thought we’d try to stay ahead of the game and start packing little things up. And as expected, Nora is more than interested in empty boxes.

I went to the eye doctor for a check-up today and they dilated my pupils. I can’t see a damn thing.
Nora started walking on her own on Memorial Day. She was the Eau Claire mall with her mother, grandmother and aunt Becks when they stopped by the kids play area. Apparently, watching all the other children run around gave her that final boost of confidence she needed to go more than 3 steps. She’s got it down to a science now. She can even turn corners at full speed. Is it too early to get her interested in Formula 1?
Update: I uploaded the video to YouTube, so non-quicktime users should now be able to view it
