What a difference a drive makes. The youngest kid at the Cooke Christmas (besides Nora) was a well-behaved 10-year-old, while the Wolfe christmas was chock full of rowdy kids ranging from 4 to 13. It wasn’t quite as crazy as Thankgiving, but Thanksgiving didn’t have a plethora of battery-operated noise-makers in attendance. After a tasty ham dinner and gift opening, we managed to quiet the kids by playing a few rounds of Apples to Apples with them. It was delightful.

The nice thing about marrying someone from the same state as you is that it’s possible to spend the holidays with both families. Granted, time spent with each is lessened a little, but that’s not the point. It’s simply nice to see all the aunts, uncles and cousins that you never get to see.

Anyways, we always do the holiday morning with Sarah’s family and the evening with my family. It works out well because Sarah’s family is closer to Minneapolis, our usual departure point for heading home.

At any rate, Sarah’s mother managed to prepare a lot of food. Most of it good (I’ve never cared much for squash or green bean casserole).
